FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What do we need to bring to swim lessons?
    Please bring a swimsuit, goggles, and a towel. A swim cap or hair tie is recommended for swimmers with long hair. If you do not have any goggles, we have some available for purchase. Swimmers under the age of three are required to wear a swim diaper.
  • Where do we go for our lesson?
    After you enter the main entrance, the pool is halfway down the hall on the left.
  • Do you have restrooms and changing rooms available?
    Yes! Youth pool restrooms and changing rooms are available on the pool deck. Adult member locker rooms and shower facilities are off-limits for youth and non-club members.
  • What is your Private Lesson cancellation policy?
    If your swimmer will be absent for a class, you must provide at least 24 hours notice or you will be charged the full amount of the lesson.
  • If I need to cancel a Private Lesson, whom do I contact?
    Notice must be provided to: 1) the Swim Office via email, and 2) your Swim Instructor. You should check with your Swim Instructor to identify the best method of communication for them.   • What is your Group lesson and Stroke School cancellation policy?
    Cancellations must be made 48 hours before the first class/clinic/league is held. There will be a $50 processing fee for any cancellations. A club credit will be issued for the balance.   • What is your Group Lesson and Stroke School make up policy?
    If your swimmer will be absent for a class, we will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity. A make-up class will be allowed only if you contact the office via email in advance of the absence. Make-ups must be completed in the same session as the absence and are only available if space permits. We cannot guarantee that there will be space in another class for your child to make-up an absence. If our classes are full, there may not be a make-up permitted.   • How do I sign up for Group Lessons / Stroke School ?
    To sign up for Group Lessons, go to our website at https://www.blairwood.com simply toggle over the “Swim” tab and click on “Group Lessons and Stroke School”. Click “Sign Up” for the level that best fits your swimmers abilities.
  • How do I know which swim level is best for my swimmer?
    On our website, https://www.blairwood.com, under the “Group Lessons and Stroke School” tab are prerequisites for each level. If you are still unsure what Swim Level to register your swimmer in, we are happy to schedule you for an evaluation.
  • How do I sign up for Private Lessons?
    To sign up for private lessons, you can contact us in the office by phone at 502-426-8820. Or, go to our website, https://www.blairwood.com, and click on “Ask Our Coaches” to send us an inquiry email. We will get back to you with details and availability!
  • Do you offer Semi-Private or Special Needs Lessons?
    Yes! If you would like to schedule a Semi-Private or Special Needs Lesson please either fill out our online inquiry at https://www.blairwood.com/private-swim-lessons, call us at 502-426-8820, or stop by our office.
  • How long are lessons?
    Lessons are typically 30 minutes long. However, we do offer 15 minute lessons to infants if needed to acclimate them to the water, and one hour lessons for high-level swimmers.
  • Do you offer a free trial?
    No. However, you are able to purchase one Individual Lesson before committing to a package of lessons. Individual lessons must be paid for at the time of booking.
  • How do I pay for my lessons?
    Payment is required at the time of booking. If you are booking via email, you can pay via credit card by calling the Blairwood front desk at 502-426-8820. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash, or check.
  • How much do lessons cost?
    Pricing varies by instructor, membership status, and number of lessons. Please contact us for detailed pricing and scheduling information. Go to our website, https://www.blairwood.com, and click on “Ask Our Coaches” to send us an inquiry email.
  • Is there a discount for members?
    Yes, there is a discount for Genesis members. Children must be members of the club to receive the membership discount.
  • Can I get a refund for unused packages?
    Lesson packages are good for 6 months from the date of purchase. Refunds will not be issued unless there are extenuating circumstances (relocation, injury, extensive illness, etc…). Club credit may be offered.
